Visakha Vidyalaya held its annual ICT Day, "The AI Odyssey '23," on the 14th of July 2023 at the Jeremias Dias Hall. The event was attended by various distinguished guests and members of the school community.
Eng. Nalin Karunasinghe, former senior lecturer and board director at ICTA, graced the occasion as the chief guest. Mr. Gamindu Hemachandra, chief academic officer and executive director at APIIT, served as the guest of honour. APIIT was also the exclusive platinum sponsor of the event.
One of the highlights of the event was the launch of the e-souvenir for "The AI Odyssey '23," showcasing the achievements and activities of the ICT Society.
The program featured a guest lecture by Eng. Nalin Karunasinghe, who shared valuable insights on the latest advancements in artificial intelligence. Mr. Gamindu Hemachandra delivered an inspiring speech, emphasizing the importance of ICT education in today's world.
The members of the ICT society staged a captivating drama performance, showcasing their talents and creativity in the field of ICT.
Furthermore, certificates were awarded to the winners of the intra-school and inter-school competitions held as part of the event. The most anticipated segment of the day was the finale of the inter-school quiz competition, which took place between Ananda College and Nalanda College. The final round of the quiz, organized by General Sir John Kothalawala Defence University had a judging panel consisting of Dr. Pradeep Kalansooriya, Dr. Buddhitha Hettige, and Dr. Kaneeka Vidanage. Ananda College emerged as champions, while Nalanda College was runners-up, demonstrating their exceptional knowledge and teamwork.
The E-Souvenir was distributed in a thumb drive to all the special guests, and it can be accessed through a QR Code which was printed in the VVICTS files which were distributed to all the invitee schools.
