The Visakha Vidyalaya Old Girls’ Association made a donation to the Children’s Heart Center of Lady Ridgeway Hospital, Colombo on the 20th of June 2014 as their Annual Vesak Project of 2014. This donation included three cardiac bed units, worth of Rs. 375,000.00, to be installed at the Children’s Heart Centre, which is being constructed at the LRH premises.
They also donated two water purifiers, worth of Rs. 288,000.00 to a Sinhalese and a Tamil school, namely Thiththagonawa Vidyalaya, Horowpothana & Poonthottam Tamil Vidyalaya of Vavuniya district, as requested by the Organization for prevention of kidney disease in children. This is the first time a school has adopted two other schools and have pledged to install water purifiers.
