The Student Parliament of Visakha Vidyalaya organized the traditional Sinhalese exorcism ritual – ‘Daha Ata Sanniya’ in an effort to evoke blessings for the school for a rewarding and successful future and to seek protection from any evil spirits and/or negative forces on the school.
The event named ‘Shanthi Pooja’ was in fact a collaborative effort of the Ministries of Religious & Cultural Affairs and Physical &Disaster Management. The ritual commenced at 5.00 pm on 14th January 2017 at the School Ground and it went until the dawn of the following day.It was indeed a memorable event; as such traditional rituals are not performed frequently and thus, it was a wonderful experience for the audience.
