The Dengue prevention campaign initiated in 2016 by the Medical subcommittee of the VVOGA with the aim of eradicating mosquitoes and preventing the incidence of mosquito borne diseases, was conducted this year as well. The ‘Shramadana Campaign’ was held on the 7th of July 2019, with the collaboration of the National Dengue Prevention Campaign and Colombo Municipal Council. A team of experts including Public Health Inspectors, Entomologists and Medical Officers of Health examined the school premises to identify the mosquito breeding sites and advised the relevant authorities to take necessary actions. Through the year, many such campaigns are implemented to prevent mosquito borne diseases among school children.
