Visakha Avurudu Pola 2016
Visakha Vidyalaya Avurudu Pola 2016 organized by the Visakha Vidyalaya Old Girls’ Association, was held on 2nd of April 2016 in a grand scale, offering a wide range of products and services. It’s said the highest number of trade stalls were offered in this year totaling 263. There was a record number of attendees and everyone had their Avurudu needs under one single premises.
The chief guest of the event, Mrs. Tamara P. Lamabadusuriya studied at Visakha Vidyalaya from 1956 to 1970. She obtained her B.Sc. degree in civil engineering from University of Sri Lanka, Moratuwa in 1976. She completed her M.Sc. degree in Water and Waste Engineering from the University of Loughborough, UK in 1986. Mrs Lamabadusuriya joined National Water Supply and Drainage Board as a trainee engineer in 1976 and rose up to the level of Additional General Manager in the same organization.
The event was colorful with the presence of past and present principals, teachers, parents, past and present Visakhians and general public. Avurudu Pola Chairperson Renuka Dharmadasa and other OGA members made this event a success and the proceeds will be used to support the school.
