Visakha Vidyalaya takes home the Winner’s Trophy of the first ever annual cricket encounter with Musaeus College.
Visakha and Musaeus who have always been trailblazers in history of school sports revolutionize the women’s cricket in schools when they organized the first ever annual cricket encounter on 6th March 2017 at Thurstan Grounds. Both the teams boasted on immense talent and sportsmanship which was clearly portrayed at the match which commenced at 1.00 pm. The match was strictly exclusive for Visakhians and Musaeites.
Visakhians at the end of their 20 overs scored 224 in total without the loss of any wicket. The talented Visakha team managed to get all the wickets of Musaeites by the 18th over at a total score of 87.
The awards for the ‘Best Batswoman’, the ‘Best Bowler’ and the ‘Woman of the Match’ were bagged by Vinuki Perera. Thiranya Movindi secured the award for the ‘Best Fielder’. Ms. Apsari Thilakaratne heading Sri Lanka Women’s Cricket; presented the awards to the well-deserved players with the presence of the Principal of Visakha Vidyalaya – Ms. Sandamali Aviruppola and the Principal of Musaeus College – Ms. Dandeniya.
