National Schools Chess Championship was held at Maliyadeva College Kurunegala on 19th, 20th and 21st September. Ninety six teams have participated for this three day tournament which was conducted by the Ministry of Education.
Visakha Vidyalaya under 15 girls team won the championship while the under 19 girls team won the 1st runners up.

The Visakha Vidyalaya Under-19 team members are Miyumi Yashora (Captain), Manuji Aththanayaka, Diyoni Weerasinghe, Nuwani Rathnayaka, Dasuni Mendis, Miyuni Rajapkshe & Anuki Pasquel.
Under 15 team members are Binudi Senarath (Captain), Hasindi Yapa, Pasindu Wijesuriya, Vinuli Bandara, Himasha Dulanji, Sohani Jayasundara & Linsathi Weerasinghe.
