Saranya Hasanthi Urugodawatte Dissanayake - Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Vietnam

Ms. Saranya Hasanthi Urugodawatte Dissanayake is the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Vietnam having assumed duties in mid-August 2015.  She is a career diplomat with over 21 years experience having served in Tokyo, Stockholm, Rome and Shanghai.

She has a diverse academic background in archaeology, environmental science and human rights with Masters and Diplomas in the subject areas from University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, University of Stockholm, Sweden and the United Nations University in Tokyo. She has experience in a wide range of areas ranging from computer programming to banking, sustainable development, disaster mitigation, management & recovery, gender issues, environmental conservation, archaeological conservation & heritage management, tourism promotion and many more, having worked in the private sector, civil society organizations, regional organizations and International organizations.

At Visakha Vidyalaya she was a Senior Girl Guide, member of the Chess Club and Astronomers’ Society. Further she was a member of Sinhala Literary Club and Young Zoologists’ Club. She has also received School Colours for Chess.
